Alyssa Henning is an immigration attorney committed to demystifying complex immigration processes and ensuring that her clients’ rights are protected as they pursue their immigration cases. Ms. Henning joined the Rockville branch of Yacub Law Offices in December 2021, and she represents clients in removal proceedings, family-based petitions, and on appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals of the United States. She is licensed to practice law in Iowa and Washington, D.C., and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
Alyssa began her professional career teaching courses in religious studies and bioethics as a visiting assistant professor in Iowa. During her time in Iowa, Alyssa joined community efforts for immigrant justice, mobilizing her neighbors to lobby against the state’s anti-sanctuary city bill and helping to establish a local renewal scholarship and legal aid fund for the beneficiaries of Deferred Action for the Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Prior to joining Yacub Law Offices, Ms. Henning worked as an associate immigration attorney at a law firm in Florida, where her practice focused on family-based petitions and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
Alyssa earned a Juris Doctor degree as well a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Religious Studies from Northwestern University’s joint program. She is fluent in English and has studied Spanish and Hebrew.
